There's a legend on Veles about a great meteorite that smashed into the ocean, creating a tsunami large enough to swamp a number of nearby islands, and causing the seawater in the immediate vicinity of the impact to boil endlessly. An intrepid group of Nordic divers is said to have embarked upon a deep sea expedition to find the remains of the meteorite, and returned with strange, brightly burning chunks of metal that constantly radiated enough heat to set fire to any flammable material that they came into contact with. The chunks were taken to the Nordic master smiths, who crafted from them a set of swords which were presented to the divers as trophies of such a daring expedition. These swords were originally handed down across family generations, but over time have ended up spread across the Federation, the blades desired by both collectors and sword-masters alike.
